The President of the Republic received the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia.

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia Vassilis Maragos.

Welcoming the guest, the President stressed that the EU-Armenia relations are developing steadily and dynamically.

Thanking for the reception, Vassilis Maragos noted that he invests all his efforts in strengthening and expanding the EU-Armenia partnership.

During the meeting, agenda issues regarding the progress of various sectoral programs and initiatives jointly implemented with the European Union were discussed. Reference was made to the perspectives of implementing the existing interaction potential in energy, education, economic and other fields.

The Head of the EU Delegation presented to the President of the Republic the details of the program of events dedicated to the upcoming Europe Day.

Both sides noted the importance of the reforms carried out in recent years also with the assistance of the European Union towards strengthening democratic institutions in Armenia.

During the conversation, the sides touched upon the opportunities and directions of a comprehensive solution to the humanitarian and social problems of internally displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the role of the European Union civilian monitoring mission, which has an important positive impact on reducing tensions on the border.
