A new method of stealing money by fraud is being actively spread in social networks, especially in the “Tinder” application intended for online dating, which victims are men of various ages who have established correspondence with women and girls of Russian nationality.
The Investigative Committee reported.
The latter, under the pretext of going to the theater together, are offered to buy the tickets of their favorite performance. For this purpose, female representatives posing as Russians send fake links to the websites of theaters operating in the Republic of Armenia, where the citizens enter their bank card details and make a payment in order to buy a ticket. As a result, the cardholder is robbed not only of the ticket value, but also in some cases, the entire amount on his account.
In connection with the mentioned cases, more than 100 criminal proceedings initiated by the use of computer technology, with features of embezzlement of money by deception, are currently being investigated in the RA Investigative Committee.
The RA Investigative Committee urges citizens to purchase tickets exclusively from the official pages of theaters, to use reliable payment services and not those sent by a third party.
