The EU observation mission stationed in Armenia referred to the border tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan on 1 September. They noted that they followed the Armenia-Azerbaijan border tension with concern.
The Mission wrote their X microblog,
“Last several days, EUMA eye witnessed with concern the increased tensions and crossfire at the Armenia – Azerbaijan border areas. We reported on the situation to Brussels. Our patrols cover Armenia – Azerbaijan border areas & lines of confrontation to report on military & security developments to EU.
Let’s remind that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, regularly spreading misinformation on 31 and thus creating an information base for another provocation, on 1 September, starting at 07:50, opened intense fire in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Sotk sector. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces, in addition to firearms of various calibers, also use mortars.
As of 12:25 p.m., the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire from small arms in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Norabak sector.
As a result of the monitoring of the relevant units of the RA Armed Forces, measures of concentration of military equipment and additional personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are recorded in the Sotk sector.
As a result of Azerbaijani provocation, the Armenian side suffered 3 casualties and two wounded.
