As a result of the investigation and other administrative actions carried out in the Main Directorate of Investigation of the RA National Security Service, in criminal proceedings No. 15160723, factual data that the police officers of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to obtain a confession and punish for the act tortured in a group the resident of Yerevan G.B. were obtained.

With the mediation of the investigator, decisions were made by the supervising prosecutor, to initiate public criminal prosecution against the Head of Department of Criminal Investigation of the Central Division of of Yerevan City Department of the Police of RA Ministry of Internal Affairs S.H. and his Deputy G.Kh. under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code for torture as part of a group. Supension of office was chosen as a measure of restraint against them.

Extensive and diverse operative-investigative and procedural actions are being taken in the criminal proceedings in the direction of revealing the complete picture of the committed crime, finding out the identities of other officers involved in the case, initiating public criminal prosecutions against them and, as a result, effectively implementing the principle of inevitability of criminal responsibility.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code.
