New Data received: A Claim to confiscate 2 more Properties from Vladimir Gasparyan will be filed

On 10 April, the hearing of the lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the claim on confiscation of the property of illicit origin of former Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan, Susanna Gasparyan, Heghush Galstyan, Angelina Gasparyan, the son of the police chief, Angela Gasparyan took place in the Anti-Corruption Civil Court.

According to Iravaban.net, the presiding judge of the session, Narine Avagyan, allowed the to take photos at the session. The video recording was prohibited because Varazdat Asatryan, the representative of the defendant, objected to it.

The judge reminded that during the previous session, a motion to apply statute of limitations and terminate the case proceedings on that basis were submitted, which was rejected. Narine Avagyan offered the representative of the respondents to publish his objections. However, Varazdat Asatryan reminded that the plaintiff submitted a motion to the court to change the basis and subject of the claim. He proposed to make this issue a subject of discussion at the beginning.

Hamlet Harutyunyan, Prosecutor of the Department for Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin of the General Prosecutor’s Office, told the court not to make the petition the subject of investigation, as he has to submit a new petition.

“During this time, while the court was examining the motion to apply the statute of limitations, new information was received within the framework of the criminal case. Information that 2 properties were purchased in the name of another person in 2013 and 2014 was received. Vladimir Gasparyan claimed that these properties were acquired for him. That information was received after I submitted the petition. Without wasting time, we started to carry out our actions in terms of new information and we started to perform a certain recalculation, which they have not yet finished,” the prosecutor noted.

According to Varazdat Asatryan, if the basis and the subject of the lawsuit must be changed, it makes no sense to perform other procedural actions.

The court decided to postpone the trial. The next session will be held on 26 April.
