The RA Police informs that on 10 February, at around 11:30 p.m., the driver of a “Hummer” car drove opposite to traffic on Abovyan Street, did not obey the “Stop” signal of the police officers, drove the car in the pedestrian zone, and ran over the patrol officer, intentionally hit and damaged 3 patrol cars and 8 citizens’ cars.

In order to prevent the further incidents and to stop the car, shots was fired at the tires of “Hummer”. The driver left the car under the arch of one of the buildings on Agatanghegosi Street and ran away.

Operative groups of the police led by the Head of the RA Police – the Deputy Minister of the Internal Affairs Aram Hovhannisyan went to the scene of the incident.

The Police found out that “Hummer” was driven by a 26-year-old resident of Ararat village of Ararat marz. He was found on Khorenatsi Street, arrested and presented to the preliminary investigation body.

A personal search of the detainee revealed a crystal-like mass resembling methamphetamine.

The car was taken to a special area guarded by the Central Police Department.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated.
