In 2002-2014, G.M., who held the position of Director General of “Armenian Nuclear Power Plant” CJSC, embezzled particularly large amounts of 1 million 27 thousand 470.9 USD (383 million 883 thousand 678 AMD) from the funds entrusted to him.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
In the investigative department of the National Security Service, sufficient facts were obtained that G.M., using his official position, in the absence of a purchase request from the relevant workshop, did not take measures to obtain bids from companies engaged in the production or sale of reactor intermediate metal rods and in 2011, purchased from the only participant of the competition, the Russian “NovenergoProm” PB company, 14 intermediate metal rods with an incomplete set at a price of 33 million 544 thousand 438.20 rubles, which is much more expensive than the market price. Due to lack of need, these metal bars were not used and were stored in the central warehouse for a long time, exceeding the expiration dates for use.
In 2015, “Armenian Nuclear Power Plant ” CJSC had to purchased a complete set of 37 intermediate metal rods for 592 thousand US dollars (283 million 5 thousand 600 AMD) from the joint-stock company “Rusatom Service”.
On 22 December, 2022, at the initiative of the prosecutor, a decision was made to initiate a public criminal prosecution against G.M., according to Article 256, Part 3, Clause 3 of the RA Criminal Code (embezzlement of entrusted property, which was carried out on a particularly large scale). On the same day, the decision was forwarded to the Department of Homeland Security Investigations for indictment.
On 31 January, 2023, G.M. was charged.
