Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” Party, issued a statement saying:

“Dear compatriots,

For almost a day, Azerbaijanis have closed with false environmental reasons the only Stepanakert-Goris road connecting Armenia and Artsakh. Our compatriots of Artsakh are in a de facto siege, deprived of the right to free movement, facing the danger of a food crisis. The situation around the Lachine Corridor is an unprecedented humanitarian disaster.

Azerbaijan violates its international obligations, once again sending a clear signal to the world that it does not stop pursuing an anti-Armenian, genocidal policy.

I myself have been in constant contact with the leadership of Artsakh since yesterday; I have expressed my readiness for any assistance.

I emphasize the mission of the Russian peacekeeping troops in ensuring the peaceful and safe life of Artsakh, and I am sure that this issue will also be resolved.

And finally, my appeal to our compatriots of Artsakh: Artsakh is not alone and we will be able to achieve the right of Artsakh Armenians to live safely in their own land through all Armenians, allies and the civilized world…
