Artur Tovmasyan, Artsakh republic National Assembly President, Condemned Yet another provocative act of Azerbaijan
Today, December 12, for the second time, the Azerbaijani side blocked the only interstate highway connecting Artsakh with Armenia at 10:30 a.m.
The right of Republic of Artsakh and Artsakh people to a full life and existence is under unprecedented under threat.
By closing the corridor, the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan pursues several goals:
Change the status quo established after the tripartite announcement of November 9, 2020,
Discredit the role of Russian peacekeeping forces,
Test our vigilance. In case of absence, depopulate Artsakh.
We call on the interested organizations of the international community to strongly condemn Azerbaijan’s provocative actions and apply adequate deterrence mechanisms against Azerbaijan.
We appeal to the authorities and people of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenians of the Diaspora, our compatriots living in Artsakh to put aside internal disagreements for the sake of the protection of the border regions of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh. Otherwise tomorrow will be too late.
As we have already reported , a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway at 10:30 this morning, again for environmental reasons.
As of 4:40 p.m., the road remains closed both ways.
