On 22 September, the Supreme Judicial Council adopted a decision, according to which, based on Aleksander Azaryan’s application, his powers as a judge of the Criminal Court of Appeal was terminated.
The decision states,
“Based on the resignation application received from Judge Aleksander Robert Azaryan of the Criminal Court of Appeal on 19 September, 2022 and guided by Article 89, Part 1, Clause 9 of the Constitutional Law “Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia” (the SC records the existence of the circumstance serving as a ground for automatic termination of the powers of a judge) , by Article 160, Part 1, Clause 1 (The powers of a judge shall automatically terminate, where he or she files a resignation) and by Part 2, and Article 94, Part 1, the Board of the Supreme Court decides:
- From 22 September, 2022, consider the powers of Judge Aleksander Robert Azaryan of the Appellate Criminal Court to be terminated.”
