On September 20, within the framework of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Foreign Minister of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi.

Highly appreciating the established cooperation between the two countries, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Japan is an important partner for Armenia. The importance of more efficient use of the great potential in the sphere of Armenian-Japanese trade and economic bilateral relations, as well as promotion of investments were emphasized. Minister Mirzoyan underscored the consistent support of Japan for the capacity building of Armenia in various fields.
The interlocutors exchanged views on issues related to strengthening cooperation on multilateral platforms.
During the meeting, Ararat Mirzoyan presented to Yoshimasa Hayashi the details of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13 and emphasized the importance of the international community’s constant pressure on Azerbaijan in order to eliminate its consequences. He condemned the aggressive and maximalist policy pursued by Azerbaijan, which undermines efforts aimed at establishing stability and peace in the region.
Minister Mirzoyan briefed his counterpart upon the position of the Armenian side regarding the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
