On September 19, the RA NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia Masanori Fukushima. The members of Armenia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group Tsovinar Vardanyan, Heriknaz Tigranyan and Lusine Badalyan took part in the meeting.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Hakob Arshakyan congratulated all of us on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Armenia and Japan. “Armenia and Japan have succeeded in developing close, friendly relations, high level political dialogue and cooperation based on common values. We are hopeful that 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations will further strengthen our bilateral ties in political, cultural and other spheres.” Hakob Arshakyan said.
The NA Vice President presented details to the Ambassador on the offensive launched by the Azerbaijani armed forces on 13 September. He added that there is reliable evidence that Azerbaijan is preparing a new attack, broadening the geography, including by Nakhichevan, encroaching against the territorial integrity of Armenia.
The NA Vice President expressed his concern about the Typhoon Nanmadol, because of which about four million people were displaced and expressed hope that the situation should be settled soon.
The Ambassador of Japan thanked the NA Vice President for the reception and the presented detailed information.
He informed that he would convey the presented information by the Vice President to the Government of Japan on the situation of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh.
Masanori Fukushima noted that Japan and Armenia have partnership warm relations, but there is unused considerable potential of cooperation, and it is necessary to take steps in that direction.
According to him, it is time to activate the cooperation in the political, economic, educational, cultural and other spheres. Both sides also highlighted the strengthening of the Armenian-Japanese cultural and scientific ties.
A number of agreements were reached with respect to the visit of the NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan to be paid to Japan.
