The former commander of the Artsakh Armed Forces, adviser to the Artsakh President Mikael Arzumanyan has been detained.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported that as a result of extensive investigative activities, it was found that the Lieutenant General, during the organization of the defense of Shushi and neighboring regions from 30 October to 9 November, 2020, showed a negligent attitude towards his official duties by not performing and improperly performing them, which  which negligently caused grave consequences.

It is noted that Arzumanyan did not ensure and did not control the effective use of the combat capabilities of the troops and the successful completion of the assigned tasks, did not provide the necessary assistance, did not show firmness and determination, did not respond promptly and flexibly to the changes in the situation, did not ensure the continuous, harmonious and full use of the troops the command and so on. The message also gives many details, in which areas he did not provide the necessary protection, did not use combat-capable squads, that he presented the situation under control, while on 5 November, the enemy’s squads had already penetrated Shushi, that he deployed his own forces in such places that they were surrounded, that regular army units were not used.
