Оn 14 August, at 1:23 p.m., the National Center for Crisis Management received an alertthat an explosion had occurred in the “Surmalu” shopping center.
Six combat units from the fire-rescue squads of the rescue department of Yerevan city of MES, an operative of the National Crisis Management Center, the rescue department of the special purpose rescue operations implementation center of the Rescue Forces Department, and the department of organization of firefighting and rescue operations went to the scene of the fire with the “Number 2” call of the severity of the fire, as well as duty groups and the duty psychologist of the Department of Psychological Support.
According to preliminary data, there was an explosion and a fire, there are victims.
“Number 3” call of fire complexity was announced. Four more combat units from the fire-rescue squads of the rescue department of Yerevan city of MES left to the scene of the incident.
Eleven more combat units from the fire-rescue squads of Yerevan city and regional rescue departments of the MES left for the scene to help.
According to preliminary data, there was an explosion and a fire. There is one dead and thirty-four injured.
Armen Pambukhchyan, the Minister of Emergency Situations is supervising the fire extinguishing works at the scene. The director of the rescue service, colonel of the rescue service Armen Gasparyan, the deputies of the MES and the deputy director of the rescue service are at the scene of the incident.
Fire extinguishing works are carried out in four locations. Fourteen water carriers of Yerevan Municipality, eight trucks, three tractors and one crane are involved in the works.
As a result of the explosion, the victims were transferred to “Armenia” MC, “Shengavit”, “Surb Astvatmayr”, “Erebuni”, “Izmirlyan” hospitals and “Heratsi” No. 1 hospital complex.
Strengthened service is being implemented in the rescue service units of the city of Yerevan and adjacent marzes. 50 rescuers and 155 fire-rescuers participate in firefighting.
As of 18:00, 15 citizens have been discharged, 40 are receiving inpatient treatment.
The rescuers took out 10 victims from under the rubble.
