Within the framework of his concluding speech during the 66th session of the Committee on the Status of Women, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan also referred to the programs aimed at the residents deported from Artsakh due to the 2020 war, particularly women and children.
“After the war of 2020, many programs in the field of women’s rights protection in Armenia have been revised, taking into account the new realities. 88% of the displaced from Artsakh were women and children who were included in various assistance programs. Within the framework of the Government’s five-year plan for 2021-2026, a number of measures have been developed to continuously expand the assistance provided to women belonging to vulnerable groups,” the Minister said.
During the discussion, Narek Mkrtchyan also mentioned the role of the support centers for victims of domestic violence in all regions of Armenia, which continue to provide various support services to the beneficiaries.
At the end of his speech, the Minister stressed the need to consolidate efforts to promote and realize the potential of women and girls. He stressed that the international community must work closely to ensure that women are not only beneficiaries but also worthy heroes for their personal development and the development of their families and society.
