As a result of close cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, in February 2022, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation established the legal grounds for the extradition of two Armenian citizens to Armenia who have been involved in various criminal cases as defendants and are wanted by the RA competent authorities.
In particular, on 07.02.2022, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation upheld the motions of the RA Prosecutor General’s Office to extradite A.G., and on 15.02.2022, on handing over H.A. to the competent bodies of the Republic of Armenia, who were wanted by the RA competent authorities.
The first of the mentioned persons was wanted on charges of bribery and the second on charges of attempted robbery using computer equipment.
The RA Police has been instructed to ensure their transfer after the decisions on extradition come into legal force.
In 2021, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia submitted 21 motions to the Russian side to extradite persons wanted by the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, of which 14 were already satisfied by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
