PM Pashinyan sends congratulatory message to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister’s Office reported.

The message reads as follows,

“Your Excellency,

2022 is a jubilee year for the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany. Thirty years ago, on January 31, 1992, diplomatic relations were established between our countries.

Looking back to the history of bilateral interstate relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany, I have to note with satisfaction that they have continuously developed and expanded, enriching the chronicle of cooperation with many memorable events. The high-level political dialogue is successfully going on. Close ties have been established between the German Bundestag of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

One of the key areas of cooperation with Germany is technical and financial cooperation, in the sidelines of which the German Federal Government has for many years supported the sustainable development and democratic reforms of Armenia. Germany is one of Armenia’s important economic partners, and the first among the EU countries.

Active cooperation has been developed in the fields of culture, science and education, as well as in the spheres of decentralized cooperation. A wide legal framework exists between our countries.

I recall with joy my visits to Germany in 2019 and 2020, as well as the visit of the Federal Chancellor to Armenia in 2018, during which the new perspectives for the development of our bilateral agenda were outlined.

A turning point was the adoption of the resolution on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the German Bundestag on June 2, 2016, by which Germany also made a significant contribution to the international process of recognizing and preventing such crimes against humanity.

I am full of hope that Germany’s support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will be continuous, aimed at a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I am confident that with joint efforts we will be able to give a new impetus to the positive dynamics of the development of the Armenian-German relations.

Taking this opportunity, I thank you, as well as the state, political and public figures of your country, individuals who have contributed to the establishment and strengthening of the Armenian-German relations.”
