The Lachin corridor is under the control of Russian peacekeepers, and Azerbaijan guarantees the security of bilateral movement of citizens, vehicles and cargo through the Lachin corridor, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The command of the Russian peacekeeping unit has established the order of visits to the peacekeeping zone, including foreign citizens, international organizations, staff of missions, etc. This procedure is well known to the Azerbaijani and Armenian parties. In particular, according to that procedure, Russian peacekeepers should be duly notified in advance of such visits. This is again our basic approach,” Zakharova said.

It should be reminded that the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated that if they had known about the visit, they would have arrested the French presidential candidate Valérie Pécresse, who visited Artsakh in December.
