According to the Ministry of Health, according to the results of research, the “Omicron” variant tends to cause milder symptoms of the disease than other variants of coronavirus disease. It mostly affects the upper respiratory tract, such as the nose and throat, and more rarely causes lung damage.

The main symptoms are:

• sore throat
• runny nose
• dry cough
• pain in lumber region

Taking into account the fact that the Republic of Armenia is currently in the season of acute respiratory infections, high activity of the disease is registered, as well as the fact that the symptoms typical of “Omicron” version are similar to acute respiratory infections, we urge in case if the mentioned symptoms appear to apply to the primary health care unit/polyclinic to detect the disease at an early stage and to avoid complications of the disease.

Experts say that in case of protection from “Omicron”, the booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine works quite well. Therefore, the Ministry of Health calls for vaccination the as soon as possible to prevent complications of the disease.
