The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the UN addressed the Security Council

On 16 November, the RA Permanent Representative to the UN Mher Margaryan addressed a meeting of the UN Security Council on “Peace and Security through Preventive Diplomacy”.

In his speech, Mher Margaryan drew the attention of the Security Council to the recent attacks by Azerbaijan on Armenia’s territorial integrity, which violates the UN Charter, the international law and the provisions of the 9 November trilateral statement. It was stressed that Azerbaijan’s aggressive actions endanger the efforts of the international community to defuse the situation, seriously undermine the prospects for peace in the region.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia stressed the need for urgent and effective steps by international actors to prevent further escalation and to ensure the unconditional complete withdrawal of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces from the territory of Armenia.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Presidents of the UN General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council and the International Court of Justice delivered reports at the meeting chaired by Mexico.
