The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has issued a statement saying:

“The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is deeply concerned about the hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan on the eastern border of the Republic of Armenia, which threaten to turn into a full-scale war. Azerbaijan, ignoring the terms of the 9 November 2020 trilateral statement reveal new ambitions this time for the sovereign territories of the state of Armenia.

The Armenian Apostolic Holy Church calls on the international community, inter-church and inter-religious structures, the leaders of the Sister Churches to raise their voices by all possible means, to stop the next encroachments of the Azerbaijani side, for the salvation of human lives, protection of fundamental rights, prevention of a new tragedy.

The Armenian Church urges its children all over the world to be strong in the homeland, to do their best to bring to justice the above-mentioned condemnable actions, which again destabilize the situation in the region, disrupt the fragile peace at a costly price.

The Catholicos of All Armenians prays for the steadfastness of the Armenian statehood, the unity of the nation and the strong will of the brave spirit of the patriotic defenders to overcome these challenges, to restore the peaceful, secure and dignified life of our people.”
