The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement․

“Today, on 16 November, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack in the eastern direction of the border of the Republic of Armenia and invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The offensive actions of the Azerbaijani side resulted in human casualties. This latest attack is a continuation of the consistent policy of the Azerbaijani side to occupy the territories of the Republic of Armenia, which was initiated on 12 May this year by the penetration of the Azerbaijani armed forces into the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions of Armenia.

By these actions, Azerbaijan also violates the trilateral statement of 9 November, since the Azerbaijani side is committing attacks against the Republic of Armenia from the territories that have passed to the Azerbaijani side as a result of the implementation of this statement.

The Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the UN Charter, has the right to reflect by all means the use of force against its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
We call on the international community and our international partners – Russia, the CSTO, the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group and the co-chairing countries to respond clearly to these actions, undermining regional peace and security, and to take effective steps towards their prevention and the unconditional and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the territory Republic of Armenia.” The statement reads.

As of 15:00, the situation on the eastern border of the Republic of Armenia has not changed significantly. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

There are local battles with the use of artillery, armored vehicles and firearms of different calibers. The enemy has great losses of armored vehicles and manpower. The information about the victims and the wounded is being clarified by the Armenian side. At this moment it is clearly known about 4 wounded.
