The Minister of Justice does not know the country’s professionals staff and is not aware of the resource that has always supported building the legitimacy of the state.  Arkady Sahakyan, a lawyer at the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises and a member of Governing Board of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, told this to Iravaban.net.

“Let him change his advisers, because at least the cooperation that has always been with the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, the number of laws that have been changed, amended, harmonized to international standards, it was only done through the efforts of the Coalition, the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.  Not knowing all this means that the Minister is not in his place, or his deputies are not in place, or his activities give rise to suspicion that they are ‘cooperating’ with very limited range of people, which is not in the interests of our country,” he said.

Arkady Sahakyan also mentioned that he had not received an invitation to participate in the discussion.

Let us also inform that the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, which on 1 November published its professional proposals for judicial reform, with two studies and an appeal to the executive branch to start inclusive discussions was not invited to the event.

To recall that on 1 November, the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia (currently includes 71 civil society organizations) and the Armenian Lawyers Association published two joint expert studies on Integrity Checking and Responsibility of Judges under the extraordinary conditions (of transitional justice) and the Guarantees of Independence and Effective Functioning of the Court.
