The large area adjacent to the Seine River between Alma and Invalides Bridges in the heart of Paris was named after Armenia

Last evening, the Paris City Council made an important decision, once again recording the inviolable friendship between Paris and Armenia and the strength of the Armenian-French privileged relations.

The French Embassy in Armenia reported.

By a unanimous decision of the City Council, one of the sections in the heart of Paris, the vast area between the Alma and Envalides (Pont des Invalides) bridges and adjacent to the Seine, was renamed after Armenia, receiving the resounding name “Esplanade d’Arménie”.

The Esplanade d’Arménie will be included in the official register of addresses in Paris; its vast area will also include the statue of Komitas Vardapet, which was unveiled in 2004․

We thank the Paris City Council, headed by Mayor Anne Hidalgo, for this remarkable initiative and decision, as well as Deputy Mayor Arnaud Ngatcha for authoring the draft decision.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to France was also invited to attend this symbolic sitting of the Paris Council.
