Each administrative district of Yerevan will have two fast charging stations

In order to reduce environmental pollution and the amount of exhaust gases, Armenia is trying to develop the necessary infrastructure for the operation of electric cars and to adapt the legislation to further increase the temptation to buy eco-cars.

Notably, due to the amendments made to Article 64 of the Tax Code by the Ministry of Environment and adopted by the National Assembly from 1 July, 2019 to 1 January, 2022, the import and sales of all vehicles powered exclusively by electric motor were exempted from VAT.

As a result, during the first half of 2021, the import of exclusively electric vehicles imported to the territory of the Republic of Armenia has sharply increased.

Thus:

✅ 2019 – 668 t/m
✅ 2020 – 2155 t/m
✅ 2021 (first half) – 2468 t/m

The Ministry of Environment has launched a draft to extend the license period for the import of exclusively electric vehicles.
