Early this morning, the RA Human Rights Defender was informed that the Azerbaijani armed forces fired at the village of Aravus in the Syunik region between 12 and 1 o’clock tonight.
This information was confirmed to the Human Rights Defender by the villagers, who claimed that shots had been fired at the positions of the RA Armed Forces, referring to the part of the village of Aravus, where the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are located a few hundred meters from civilian houses.
Right in front of them are the RA Armed Forces, which perform the function of protecting the lives and safety of the residents.
According to the facts collected by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, the Azeri shooting stopped after the arrival of the local community bodies, the command of the 1st Army Corps of the Republic of Armenia, the Russian Border Guard Service.
Tonight’s Azerbaijani shootings in the direction of the village of Aravus are criminal, disrupting the normal, peaceful life and security of the people.
These facts prove that the presence of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the immediate vicinity of the RA villages, on the roads between the communities, violates the right to life of the people. They violate human rights, free movement and other vital rights.
It is obvious that human rights can be ensured only in the conditions of the security zone.
