Head of the RA Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan received the Legal Attaché of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation Heather Bergey, Senior Law Enforcement Advisor of the U.S. Embassy Yerevan’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) Audie Holloway, Criminal Justice Reforms Project Manager Kristina Afoyan and Senior Anti-corruption Advisor Johannes Van Den Hoogen.

In the course of the meeting, the ongoing and forthcoming activities and programs implemented within the framework of the U.S. assistance to Armenian law enforcement agencies were reffered to. The peculiarities of the fight against corruption, in particular, the investigation of corruption-related crimes were also touched upon. Taking into account the rich experience of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation in this area, importance was attached to organization of training courses aimed at the development of skills and abilities of investigators, especially stressing the presentation of practical experience and case study.
The parties considered the possibility of introducing modern methodologies to increase the efficiency of investigation of criminal cases and training of specialists responsible for their application. In addition, the peculiarities of conducting a comprehensive, multi-component investigation were discussed, emphasizing the need to combine investigative, operative and expert activities in this context.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope that the forthcoming new programs planned in the framework of cooperation with the US Embassy will continue with greater efficiency.
