Regarding the information circulating in the media about the presence of Russian servicemen in Tavush region, particularly in Voskepar community, we inform that Russian border guards have been deployed in the mentioned area, and the construction works are being carried out for the purpose of building rear support facilities for border guards.

“This process is carried out within the framework of Armenian-Russian cooperation,” the statement reads.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement on the issue, stating that one of the problems with the deployment of Russian border guards along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is the lack of international legal formulations.
Aleksander Bikantov, Deputy Director of the Printing and Information Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated this commenting on the proposal of the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
He noted that Russia is seriously concerned about the recent armed incidents in certain parts of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
“It is especially alarming that they are accompanied by casualties on both sides. Unfortunately, despite the steps taken, tensions at the border are not easing. In this regard, I urge the parties to refrain from actions that are fraught with further tensions. All issues must be resolved exclusively through peaceful diplomacy. Russia is ready to further contribute to the settlement of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border,” he said.
