On the initiative of the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, a public discussion on the proposed amendments to the RA laws “On Local Self-Government” and “On Local Self-Government in the City of Yerevan” was held.

The proposed amendments refer to the increase of the possibilities of exercising the powers of the local self-government bodies in the sphere of social protection of the population, which will ensure the harmonious activity of the state and local self-government bodies.
Civil society organizations interested in the establishment of professional social work services in Armenia, active in the fields of social protection and local self-government, presented their observations, proposals and new initiatives for discussion.
The event is one of the ongoing steps to strengthen the Unified Social Service under the auspices of the MLSA, which has been operating since April 1, 2021, and to reform the integrated social services system.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), World Vision Armenia, and the Child Development Foundation in the scope of the “Community Level Access to Social Services (CLASS) project supported the organization of the public discussion.
