The Constitutional Court has started examining the applications to challenge the results of the 20 June extraordinary elections.

The Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission Tigran Mukuchyan stated in the Constitutional Court that the demands of the applications submitted by 4 political forces are subject to rejection.

“In order to invalidate the election results, one must first understand whether there were any violations of the EC requirements as a result of the organization and carrying out of the election.

In order to invalidate the election results, the consequences of the violations must be irreversible. The opportunity to find out the exact will of the voters must be lost,” said Tigran Mukuchyan, adding that invalidating the election results is a serious political and legal weapon, which should be used only in exceptional cases.

According to the CEC chairman, when declaring the election results invalid, the priority of the citizens’ right to participate in the elections should be considered.

It should be reminded that the election results are disputed by “Armenia”, “I have the Honor”, “Zartonk” and “Homeland of the Armenians ” parties. Their applications are considered in a single joint case.
