A meeting with the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia at the European Court of Human Rights to discuss further actions related to the initiative of the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia to provide legal assistance to Armenian prisoners being illegally prosecuted in Azerbaijan was held.
The Chamber of Advocates informed.
It was emphasized during the meeting that the trials of Armenian captives in Azerbaijan are obviously fabricated, illegal, with a predetermined outcome, and pursue obvious political goals. Moreover, with these trials, Azerbaijan is trying to avoid fulfilling its international obligations to return the captives by manipulating the issue to put pressure on Armenia.
Within the framework of the initiative of the Chamber of Advocates, the legal aid will provide the following format:
In order to effectively protect the rights and interests of Armenian captives in the European Court of Human Rights, visit Armenian detainees in Azerbaijan, as well as verify other violations of physical, mental and other rights guaranteed by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
