The first sitting of the Committee on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons was held, chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Minister of Internal Affairs Karen Sargsyan This was reported by the Police of the Artsakh Republic reported.

“Before the start of the sitting, the commission observed a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who died during the Artsakh struggle for survival.

The commission started its work with a new staff and a new working format immediately after the 3rd Artsakh war. The work done was summed up today.

Thus:

✔️ From 27 September to 12 November, 2020, the bodies of 1578 dead servicemen were registered in the Forensic Medical Examination Bureau of the Ministry of Health of the Artsakh Republic.

✔️ During the search from 13 November, 2020 to 28 June, 2021, 1586 bodies were found and evacuated.

✔️ After 10 November, 2020, as a result of forensic medical examination, the identities of 2711 people were confirmed.

✔️ There are 60 confirmed prisoners held in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Karen Sargsyan assured that the commission is fulfilling its task, both in the direction of returning the missing and the captives, by cooperating and negotiating with all the interested structures and departments.

Meetings with relatives of captured and missing servicemen and civilians will be more frequent from now on.

During the sitting, the work done in different spheres was presented to the chairman of the commission.

The reports were made by the secretary of the commission, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, SESS, Ministry of Labour, Social and Resettlement Affairs, Foreign Ministry, employees of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Human Rights Defender’s Office, the Investigative Committee, as well as officials of the Unions of Relatives of Missing Freedom Fighters.

At the end of the meeting Karen Sargsyan gave instructions to the members of the commission. The next meeting with the news is planned in the Union of Relatives of Missing Freedom Fighters.”
