The leader of the “Citizen’s Decision” Social-Democratic Party Suren Sahakyan writes on his Facebook page:
“I arrived at my new house in the morning because of an unfortunate incident. I want to emphasize that the person who provoked the incident was a proxy of the Civil Contract Party, who had already distinguished with his impudent behavior (video in the comments).
I also inform that I did not notice a woman in the commotion; regardless of all this, it is obvious that if it were not for the quarrel, no one would have suffered physically, except for the state, on whose behalf those who represent it speak in the absence of knowledge of the basic norms of law. These overshadow the reputation of the state institutions that have already experienced an unbearable decline.
The details of the incident are being investigated by the relevant police department; let’s hope that there will be no doubt about the fair conduct of the investigation. However, I must try to get in touch with the injured woman tomorrow and to apologize to her for the incident. I hope that the injury inflicted on her was not directly from me, as she appeared in my field of vision minutes after the end of the incident.
“Ignorant fighting in Armenia must be defeated at every step, then we will have the opportunity to move forward.”
It should be reminded that Sahakyan was brought to the police at midnight.
Civil Contract Party pre-election headquarters informed:
Suren Sahakyan, a member of the Executive Body of Civil Contract Party, number one on the pre-election list, was prevented from entering the polling station 6/18 in Yerevan.
We informed the CEC about the obstruction. They replied that they had no right to interfere and informed the precinct commission to allow them to enter. However, the precinct commission refused. As a result of the dispute.
Suren Sahakyan and another proxy of Citizen’s Decision” Social-Democratic Party was brought to the police station.
We condemn such a course of action, which will cast a clear shadow, question the transparency of the electoral process and the reliability of the results obtained.
We will inform about further developments next.”
