I had a telephone conversation with the Secretary of the RF Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.
The key topic of the telephone conversation was the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. We exchanged views and discussed possible solutions to the problem.
We learn this from Armen Grigoryan’s Facebook page.
Presenting the situation at the beginning of the telephone conversation, I emphasized that Armenia views this as Azerbaijan’s encroachment on Armenia’s sovereign territory, that it is unacceptable for Armenia, therefore, the Azerbaijani armed units must leave those territories and return to their starting positions.
In my speech, I also stressed that the claims of the Azerbaijani side are unfounded, that there are still maps left from the Soviet period, which substantiate the Armenian belonging of the above-mentioned territories.
Speaking about Armenia’s application to the CSTO, I also used the possibility of launching the necessary mechanisms within the CSTO in order to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
In his turn, Nikolai Patrushev praised the restraint of the Armenian side in this issue, emphasizing the use of all possible diplomatic efforts for its solution, adding that the Russian side is working intensively at all levels to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
