At the initiative of the Armenian side, late in the evening on 13 May, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

The discussion on the situation in Nagorno Karabakh continued.
During an exchange of views on the recent incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Vladimir Putin emphasized the need to strictly comply with all the provisions of the statements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan dated 9 November, 2020 and 11 January, 2021, primarily in terms of strict observance of the ceasefire regime.
The Russian side reaffirmed its disposition to continue active mediation efforts and maintain close contacts with Yerevan and Baku in the interests of ensuring stability in the region. Nikol Pashinyan, expressing gratitude to the President of Russia, spoke in favor of a constructive dialogue and interaction so that all emerging problems are resolved exclusively by peaceful, political and diplomatic means.
An agreement was reached on further contacts at different levels.
