On 13 May, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ara Ayvazyan had a telephone conversation with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde. The key topic of conversation was the situation in the border area of Armenia.
Acting Minister Ayvazyan presented in detail to his counterpart the situation in the RA Syunik region as a result of the actions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, considering inadmissible the attempts to encroach on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in violation of international law.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office agreed that such actions are a serious challenge to regional security and peace. In this context, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the actions of Azerbaijan against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the OSCE member state, their previous threats are a direct result of the war unleashed against the people of Artsakh on 27 September last year.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to make joint efforts to maintain security, peace and stability in the OSCE region.
