Yerevan Municipality and UNDP will develop new joint programs

Yerevan Municipality and the UN Development Agency summed up the cooperation in recent years and discussed the possibility of implementing new urban programs. The meeting held at the City Hall presented the successfully implemented programs with the agency, in particular, of environmental significance, including street lighting, energy efficiency of buildings, energy saving programs. Talking about the perspective directions of the city’s development, the parties stressed that Yerevan should be innovative, green, and comfortable for everyone.

“Making the work of the municipality as simple, open, and controllable as possible, digitizing and making the services provided electronic is one of our priority tasks, and work is already being done in that direction. “I am confident that cooperation with the UN Development Agency will create new opportunities,” David Chgnavoryan, Advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan said.

“Cooperation with the city government in various fields has a long history. We have successful projects that have already become a reality. We are waiting for answers on a number of projects. There are also ideas, the spheres of which should be developed jointly,” Tatevik Koloyan, Team leader, Innovation and SDG Finance portfolio at UNDP said.

In order to develop the vision of happy development, the municipality will soon set up a working group, which will also include UNDP specialists. The project will be the basis for the development and management of the city master plan with new ideas and approaches, based on the use of digital technologies and management methods.
