Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answers the questions of the deputies in the National Assembly.
MP Sisak Gabrielyan asked a question about the former presidents of Artsakh and Armenia, noting,
“There is an opinion that they wanted to go to Russia for a solution and you did not provide sufficient support to them. Please clarify, has such thing happened? What did they want? What didn’t we provide them – an airplane, a passport, per-diem,” the deputy asked.
Nikol Pashinyan said that the 2nd և 3 presidents of Artsakh, Arakdi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan, had applied for the meeting. Naturally, I met with them several times and they said that there was such an idea that a meeting with the former leaders of Armenia and Artsakh would take place. I considered, thought and said that I agree to organize such a meeting. They undertook to organize such a meeting. Then I was told that there is an idea that initially the first president and the second president of Armenia should go to Moscow, have meetings with the representatives of the Russian elite, return and after that the meeting should take place, it should be a combination of the existing information, and analysis. I said that I welcome this and I am even ready to provide the state plane for them to leave. They left again, returned with another offer: the two presidents wanted me to mediate, so that the Russian president accepts them as a special envoy. I said that there is a problem with the format, I am in constant communication with the President of the Russian Federation, he can ask me a simple question, and what do you have to tell me now that you cannot say, and for that you need to introduce a special envoy institute.
I offered my version. I said; let us invest all state funds to organize the visit of the resigned presidents of Armenia to Russia at the state level, ask the host party to be the resigned Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council. And within the framework of the visit, we will mediate to organize a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” Pashinyan said.
