Turkologist Varuzhan Geghmyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Today, a memorandum was signed between Turkey and Azerbaijan, which envisages the construction of the Igdir-Nakhichevan gas pipeline. This gas pipeline will become the basis of a larger gas pipeline, which Turkey and Azerbaijan plan to build through the Meghri corridor. Maybe some people will hurry to be happy that a gas pipeline will pass through the territory of Armenia. I hasten to disappoint that in that case, in order to ensure the “security” of the pipeline, both Turkey and Azerbaijan will have a legitimate basis to take the territory of the pipeline under their direct control. Anyone who knows Turkey well knows that such a development is the most realistic. Moreover, a new big war is underway in the region, and we will be in its focus and now we have to prepare for it a minute ahead.”
