On 14 December, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan received the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin.
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan noted that deepening relations with the EU and its member states is one of Armenia’s foreign policy priorities. He added that the start of a dialogue with the EU on visa liberalization is one of the key items on the bilateral agenda.
The parties discussed the latest developments in the situation around Artsakh, the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh. The Deputy Prime Minister provided information on the process of exchanging prisoners, noting that new developments are expected in this direction soon. The Armenian side thanked the EU for providing humanitarian assistance to the displaced persons as a result of the Azerbaijani aggression.
The interlocutors touched upon the reform agenda implemented in Armenia. Tigran Avinyan noted that the government intends to implement the necessary reforms with even greater vigor. In particular, the current state of cooperation on public administration reform and digitalization and further steps were discussed.
The Deputy Prime Minister also spoke about the anti-crisis economic program being developed by the government. The main goal of the program will be to prevent further deepening of the crisis, to restore an economically stable, reliable environment for business in terms of balanced consumer behavior, to create the necessary buffers for further economic recovery and development.
