“Therе was only the factor of luck to stay alive,” volunteer Hovhannes Martirosyan, who life was saved by kinder says.
“A girl whose name is Mary gave it to me and said to keep it and when I will return we, would open it together. During one of the operations, the kinder fell from my pocket, I bent down to pick it up and just at that moment the enemy’s bullet went over my head,” Hovhannes told in a conversation with Iravaban.net .
He volunteered to take part in the Artsakh war, passed through many obstacles until he reached the front. Participated in air defense.
According to Hovhannes, the biggest problem in the war was the movement by military vehicles, according to him, it would have been more obedient to transport 3-4 people by small vehicles.
“The whole nation knew that our fight was against UAVs, and they were working on groups and large cars (trucks). For example, 5 trucks left, one came back, 4 out of 5 were hit, until the air defense was normalized, only then they realized that the troops should not be transported by big cars,” Hovhannes says.
Hovhannes speaks with admiration about 18-20-year-old conscripts and their heroism.
“When we saw their excitement, we were ashamed of ourselves and that was what kept us, we had no right to leave them alone, we thought it was better to die than to leave them and run away. I believe they have won this war,” Hovhannes says.
According to the volunteer, they did not have a problem with food, the food did not reach the place only in the cases when the car was hit, and only those who were lost or found in the blockade remained hungry.
According to Hovhannes, psychologically they were ready for everything․ “The shells were falling like rain, many were not ready for that, that’s why they were running away.” Hovhannes says that enduring 44 days is already a victory.
