Part of the demarcation work is being carried out in the section of the Sotk mine, which was part of the Karvachar region of the Artsakh Republic: Ministry of Defense

The Ministry of Defense issued a statement stating: “On 9 November, a trilateral statement signed by the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia stipulated that the Karvachar region of the Artsakh Republic should be under the control of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 15 November. Later, due to the lack of deadlines for the process, the deadline was extended to 25 November.

On the mentioned day, the Armenian units were withdrawn from the Karvachar region, which, according to the provisions of the statement, passed to Azerbaijan, as a result of which, instead of the former border of Armenia with Artsakh, a border was formed between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Prior to the full and accurate demarcation of the mentioned section between Armenia and Azerbaijan, gates were temporarily installed to stop the traffic to Karvachar and back.

Today, with the participation of the representatives of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, demarcation works using special means (GPS) started. Part of the demarcation work is being carried out in the section of the Sotk mine, which was part of the Karvachar region of the Artsakh Republic.

A complete and accurate demarcation is extremely necessary to rule out disputes over the ownership of this or that part of the border, or possible further provocations. Let us add that the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan will deploy their military bases and carry out combat duty within the specified borders as a result of the demarcation.”
