A few days ago the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian and His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, called for 22 November to be a day of remembrance for the heroes who died defending the Motherland. A memorial service was scheduled for that day in Armenian churches around the world.

Today, the President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian visited the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, attended the commemoration ceremony held at the Open Altar of St. Trdat under the chairmanship of the Catholicos of All Armenians. His Holiness Garegin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians delivered a speech of commemoration and remembrance.

After the ceremony, President Sarkissian talked to the parents of the killed soldiers, servicemen and freedom fighters, lit a candle in memory of all our servicemen who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the homeland.
