Russian and French Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov and Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed the situation in Karabakh. As “Armenpress” reports with reference to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Le Drian discussed the situation around the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russia’s mediation efforts to end all hostilities and cease fire in the conflict zone.
“The ministers stressed the importance of ensuring the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 9. In this regard, cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and UNDP և UNESCO is of particular importance. Lavrov clarified the parameters for the participation of Russian peacekeepers, as well as the functions of the Interdepartmental Humanitarian Response Centre.
The ministers agreed that the main priorities now are the safe return of internally displaced persons and refugees, unblocking of economic and transport communications in the region, provision of humanitarian assistance and restoration of civilian infrastructure.
The Foreign Ministers of Russia and France exchanged views on further steps towards a long-term and full-fledged settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis on the basis of the principles agreed in the OSCE Minsk Group
