In the National Assembly, the Prime Minister answers the questions of the deputies. Independent NA deputy Arman Babajanyan urged the Prime Minister to initiate special elections in the near future.
“We must state without exaggeration that there has been a betrayal of our state and I do not mean at all the statement that you have signed, I mean the fact that during the war we only stated that we have a total unprepared state of security, which applied to all security bodies, to the Ministry of Defense, to the entire diplomatic system. In fact, you have to admit that you and your team has failed in all these directions and it is a bigger betrayal that your head of the Ministry of Defense, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the Security Council continue to hold office. At least you should have urged them to resign as soon as possible, thus becoming more understandable and perceptible to the society and dissatisfied circles,” Arman Babajanyan said.
He noted that the Prime Minister should be the initiator to get out of this situation, the Prime Minister should propose a road map, the last part and step of which should be the extraordinary elections.
“You must also take part in those extraordinary processes, take it over, if you get the mandate from the people, take that mandate, take it and continue, but in this situation, I think, we cannot move forward without publishing that road map, without setting deadlines,” the deputy said..
The Prime Minister noted that the main task is to create an opportunity for public discourse in the conditions of democracy, stability and legitimacy. “I do not think that today we have that opportunity, because we have a problem to restore security and legitimacy, the opportunity to hold a democratic discussion in Armenia. The first task is to restore that opportunity of the government, after which it will be possible to talk about other things to do,” Nikol Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister stated that it is out of the question for him to take any step that would jeopardize the people’s ability and right to exercise power through free, legal, fair, transparent and free expression of will.
