The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Avinyan emphasizes that the government will toughly stop any coup attempt, but emphasizes that if necessary, the current government will leave and a new government will be elected. He said this on Public TV.
“I would like to remind you that in the 90s, when internal political turmoil was taking place in Azerbaijan, the Armenian army used these internal political issues quite effectively. I want to assure all the political forces that are trying to catch fish in the murky waters in the conditions of this state of war, that there will be no tolerance of velvet in this matter. The Republic of Armenia, our statehood is above all, everyone’s ambitions. In other words, our internal political processes, ‘who is to blame,’ ‘who is responsible,’ its turn will definitely come, its turn will come, if necessary these authorities will go, a new government will be elected, but to allow the coup attempts, I personally and our team cannot,” Avinyan said.
To the question whether he sees a danger of a coup, Avinyan answered. I have heard such a threat, however, at the level of calls, but I want to assure you that such attempts will be stopped in a very strict way.”
