Human rights activists Siranush Sahakyan և Artak Zeynalyan issued a statement on the protection of the rights of Armenian prisoners in the European Court.

“The case on the protection of the rights of other six servicemen captured during the he large-scale war against Artsakh unlashed by Azerbaijan early in the morning on 27.09.2020, was submitted to the European Court

The captives are Samvel Knazyan, Samvel Kastaktsyan, Hovsep Sahakyan, Vahe Abrahamyan, Gegham Elbakyan and Norik Arakelyan.

Based on the videos spread by the Azerbaijani media, the mentioned persons were identified or the fact of captivity was confirmed through calls or messages made to their family members from their phones. Petitions on behalf of the families of Armenian captives have been submitted to the European Court demanding an urgent measure to protect the rights to life free from inhuman treatment.

The European Court has demanded documented information from the Azerbaijani government about their whereabouts, conditions of detention and medical care. The court has set a deadline of 13.11.2020 to provide the required information.”
