The Armenian representation in the European Court of Human Rights has submitted an application to the ECHR regarding 8 prisoners of war. A video with their participation was disseminated in the Azerbaijani media on 22 October.

Yeghishe Kirakosyan, the representative of the Republic of Armenia in the ECHR, said this in an interview with Iravaban.net.

According to him, videos about prisoners of war are regularly published, which are coordinated by human rights activists and the government. It should be noted that the Armenian government demanded immediate measures against Azerbaijan.

“We will wait for information on their condition and health, as well as demand to oblige Azerbaijan to take measures to ensure their security,” Yeghishe Kirakosyan said.

He said that the ECHR had already received the answer regarding 5 prisoners of war, the ECHR had requested information from the Azerbaijani government.

“I think we will get the same answer from the Court regarding the 3 prisoners of war,” Yeghishe Kirakosyan said.

It should be reminded that we had informed earlier that Areg Sargsyan անդ Narek Amirjanyan, soldiers captured by Azerbaijan, called their parents, they are alive, and are in the hospital.

Earlier, on 16 October, the European Court of Human Rights upheld the claim of the Armenian applicants, obliging the Government of Azerbaijan to ensure the inviolability of the lives of Areg Sargsyan and Narek Amirjanyan and their right to health. At the same time, the Court demanded that Azerbaijan submit information to the European Court on the status and health of the latter by 22.10.2020.
