Within the framework of the awareness-raising program of the “Youth4Anti-Corruption” project implemented by the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, the representative of the association conducted an online seminar on 13 July with the students of the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics.
Mr. Karen Zadoyan, President of the ALA, delivered a welcoming speech at the awareness seminar. Welcoming such cooperation with ASUE Gyumri branch, he spoke about the three pillars of the fight against corruption.
Afterwards, Razmik Sargsyan, Political Affairs Officer of the Swedish Embassy, delivered a welcoming speech, who attached importance to combat and raise awareness on corruption that exists in the public sector.
Karen Petrosyan, director of the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics, highlighted holding such events and work closely with state and non-state bodies, urging students to participate. “This is possible in the sense that students will be able to exercise their right to compel all administrative and non-administrative bodies to act exclusively within the framework of the law, taking into account the interests of all,” Karen Petrosyan said.
In his speech Gharib Harutyunyan, Head of the Department of Development Programs, Science Quality Assurance, and Foreign Relations of the ASUE mentioned that in the fight against corruption they also cooperate as representatives of the civil society. He stressed that the event is especially important in that it emphasizes the involvement of regional students, especially when there is a state will in the fight against corruption.
Gayane Geveorgyan, the representative of the Shirak regional branch of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, told the participants that the government has given a special role to anti-corruption education and awareness in the fight against corruption.
During the awareness seminar, ALA representative Mariam Zakaryan presented the “Youth4Anti-Corruption” project and answered the students’ questions.
The students enthusiastically accepted the unique opportunity to engage in the fight against corruption. Students were also provided with an application form.
More than 25 students participated in the awareness seminar.
