Lawyer Artak Zeynalyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Two days ago we informed that an application for urgent measures had been submitted to the European Court of Human Rights on behalf of the two captured servicemen. The court made a decision to request information from the Azerbaijani government, setting a deadline of 22.10.2020.

Taking into account the revealed episodes on the gross violations of humanitarian law by Azerbaijan, an application was once again submitted to the European Court, evidence of war crimes committed against prisoners of war with the involvement of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were presented to the Court.

The Court recently granted the Armenian applicants’ claim, obliging the Government of Azerbaijan to ensure the inviolability of the lives of Areg Sargsyan and Narek Amirjanyan and their right to health. At the same time, the Court demanded that Azerbaijan submit information to the European Court on the status and health of the latter by 22.10.2020.

Lawyer Siranush Sahakyan and human rights activist Artak Zeynalyan represent the interests of the mentioned servicemen in the European Court of Human Rights.”
